Senior Associate

Job Description

  • EHS program development for biological safety, chemical safety, radioactive materials safety, OSHA programs, environmental programs, etc.
  • Permit and license procurement for controlled substances, wastewater operations, industrial alcohol, recombinant DNA, hazardous waste, animal use, and flammables storage.
  • Job hazard analyses and risk assessments for laboratory and facilities operations.
  • Draft and deliver new employee and annual training for hazard communication, lab standard, biosafety, Bloodborne Pathogens, and radiation safety.
  • Develop and deliver specialized safety training as needed.
  • Perform gap analysis for laboratory EHS programs to identify areas in need of attention and improvement.
  • Perform laboratory and general facility audits for compliance to regulatory requirements; and draft professional reports based on audit findings.
  • Manage sub-contractors if required as part of client contracted services.
  • Manage other Benchmark Associates.

Experience, skills & knowledge

  • 10+ years’ experience in biomedical, biotechnology, pharmaceutical safety
  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
  • Certification in an area related to EHS is a plus: CSP, CBSP, CHMM, CIH
  • Able to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to research and apply knowledge to new areas is a must.
  • Able to interact with multiple levels within a company structure
  • Proven ability to work in a changing environment and under pressure
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to balance and manage multiple on-going projects
  • Management of junior level employees
  • Familiarity with many of the following agency regulations: CDC, DEP, DOT, DPH, EPA, MWRA, NIH, NFPA, OSHA, RCRA regulations

Associate

Job Description

  • Day-to-day EHS program management for biological safety, chemical safety, radioactive materials safety, OSHA programs, environmental programs, etc.
  • Obtain permit and licenses for controlled substances, wastewater operations, industrial alcohol, recombinant DNA, hazardous waste, animal use, and flammables storage.
  • Job hazard analyses for routine, low to medium risk laboratory and facilities operations.
  • Deliver new employee and annual training for hazard communication, lab standard, biosafety, Bloodborne Pathogens, and radiation safety.
  • Help senior associates with gap analysis for laboratory EHS programs to identify areas in need of attention and improvement.
  • Perform routine laboratory and general facility inspections and draft reports based on findings.

Experience, skills & knowledge

  • 2-7 years’ experience in biomedical, biotechnology, pharmaceutical safety
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Certification in an area related to EHS is a plus: ASP, CHMM, etc.
  • Able to work with little supervision
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills and research regulations!
  • Able to interact with multiple levels within a company structure
  • Desire to work in a changing environment and under pressure
